What is hope?

Which path will you take? The path with Jesus is clearly marked and does not twist and turn.

Lamentations chapter 34 verses 21-27.
Yet there is one ray of hope: His compassion never ends. It is only the Lord's mercies that have kept us from complete destruction. Great is his faithfulness; His loving kindness begins afresh each day. My soul claims the Lord as my inheritance; therefore I will hope in Him. The Lord is wonderfully good to those who wait for Him, to those who seek for Him. It is good both to hope and to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Without hope, we would not have any purpose. With hope we can be sure that we are looking forward to something and from that we can plan.
There has to be something to grasp onto each day, otherwise there will be emptiness and confusion. Most people do things each day out of habit. Life becomes a routine, that is adjusted to interrupting circumstances. These routines give us the sense of individuality. It makes us different from one another by our accomplishments.
For example; maybe you have a job and a family that you interact with each day. People respect you and look to you for guidance, you are expected to do the things that help others by maintaining the world around you.
Maybe you do not have a job or family because circumstances have led you astray. That still does not mean that each day you do not have purpose. Maybe you look for work and just do not have what others are looking for. Maybe you keep trying to have relationships and are constantly ending up with disappointment. You can see what others have, and because of that, you are determined to keep on trying. That is purpose.
There are side affects to seeking purpose; for example the job you get will provide you with money to get the things you want. Not a bad thing if you are grateful. And your hope is that the relationship you get will provide you with someone who will listen to you, care about you and be there with you through the up's and downs of aging.
It is through hope that we continue along the same paths each day. At some point or another you will ask "why?" and your "why" will be based on your life. When that happens it means you are trying to understand why, all that has happened to you and makes up who you are, has led you to where you are today and where is it leading you too.
It sounds like a little too much thought is being put into this life stuff, but it does happen because sometimes we do not have the answers to why things happen and that gets us frustrated with why we continue on with each day. It is only through hope that tomorrow may be better than today.
God gives us purpose. The purpose we get from God is to trust in Him to care for us and provide for us a life of peace. You can seek purpose in other things and hopefully they will provide you with the  satisfaction you seek. The path of life with God is clearly marked and you can see clearly all the stuff that is around you and how wonderful it is that you can walk on that path with Jesus.
What is hope? It is found in Jesus and the life we can have with God, now and forever.
There is no hidden agenda, you are not expected to do anything. Life with God is the free will choice to know Jesus and to trust in God as your heavenly Father. He is that someone, who cares about you and has the ability to guide you along that so wonderful path that is clearly marked.
What is hope? It is having a reason to enjoy each day and to be thankful for the time to come.
Thank You Father for Jesus. Thank You for the direction in which we walk with You. 😊

Proverbs chapter 3 verses 21-27.
Have two goals: wisdom---that is knowing and doing right---and common sense. Do not let them slip away for they fill you with living energy and are a feather in your cap. They keep you safe from defeat and disaster and from stumbling off the trail. With them on guard you can sleep without fear; you need not be afraid of disaster or the plots of wicked men, for the Lord is with you; He protects you.

2 Chronicles chapter 34 verse 27.
"Because you are sorry and have humbled yourself before God when you heard My words against this city and it's people and have ripped your clothing in despair and wept before Me---I have heard you, says the Lord."
2 Chronicles chapter 34 verses 30 and 31.
There the King read the scroll to them---the covenant of God that was found in the Temple. As the King stood before them, he made a pledge to the Lord to follow His commandments with all his heart and soul, and to do what was written in the scroll.
