Self-control

Acts chapter 2 verses 38 and 39.
Peter replied, "Each one of you must turn from sin, return to God and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; then you also shall receive this gift, the Holy Spirit. For Christ promised Him to each one of you who has been called by the Lord our God, and to your children and even to those in distant lands!"

What does it mean to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit?
God is the Creator and is in everything we see and touch. Jesus is God's Son who came and guided people to know that they can have a life with God. You could say that He is God, who came to earth so that people would know that He cares and love them. God had a plan for Jesus and Jesus trusted and fulfilled the wishes of God. When Jesus left earth, He said that we would not be left without Him. And to those who believed that He is God's Son and that through Him we can trust and live with God as our Father, He has blessed us with God's Holy Spirit.
It is the Holy Spirit who lives within us, that brings us the joy and peace of life. Everyday people go about making decisions about everything. Our minds are constantly thinking and planning ahead. We are trying so hard to make the right decisions and want so bad to live in peace all the while being happy.
God wants us to be happy and stress free. That way we can fulfill the plan He has for us. And it is the same plan that He gave to Jesus. God's Holy Spirit was with Jesus and protected Him from making wrong decisions. He guide Him in the right words to speak so that people would see the wisdom and joy He had. Jesus knew He was not alone, He knew that the Holy Spirit was with Him and that God watched closely over Him.
Jesus was human just like you or I, and yet He was God's Son filled with the Holy Spirit. He knew who He was and where He was going in life. He talked with God all the time and knew it was only a matter of time before He would be back with God. The Holy Spirit helped Him and God's mighty power supported Him, keeping Him safe and at peace, always looking forward to returning to His heavenly home.
Our heavenly home awaits us and Jesus has left us with the same Holy Spirit who helped Him and we are protected by the same mighty power of God. It is the joy and happiness of living in God's presence, filled with His Holy Spirit that gives us a life of focus and peace.
Your past life was filled with heartaches and questions as you constantly tried to keep hold of who you are and where you are going. when you let go of trying so hard to control everything and put your focus on living with God, then you will see everything fall into place. God will be in control and like any loving father He will watch closely over you, keeping you on the right paths, making the right decisions.
Thank you Father for Jesus and for giving us your Holy Spirit. And giving us eternal life with You.😊
