Best of both worlds.

Matthew chapter 13 verse 52.
Jesus said; "Those experts in Jewish law who are now my disciples have double treasures---from the Old Testament as well as from the New!"

How fortunate we are to be like the disciples, having the knowledge of the Old Testament and the New. The disciples had to trust in what Jesus was saying and live each moment with Him, watching as He was rejected by people and put through horrible beatings and death on the cross. Then the disciples were left empty and saddened by His death.
They thought for sure that Jesus was the Messiah, how could He die? Up to the moment of His death, the prophecies of the Old Testament had been right and had been playing out just as they were written so many years earlier.
Now, faith is hard to accept without having some tangible evidence to grasp onto.
Imagine how the disciples felt when Jesus walked into the upper room. They all knew He had died on the cross and where He had been buried. So it must have astonished them to see Him alive, walking and talking.
It was Jesus being seen alive over several days by all sorts of people that gives us the hope of God's promises, being real. Is it eternal life we want or is it the joy of having life with God?
We have the whole bible, both Old and New Testaments, unlike the disciples who had seen for themselves the words of the old prophets come true. They could not contain what they had seen and heard Jesus speak of. They told everyone and that brings us to where we are today.
The people of Jesus's time, found it hard to accept what He was saying. People knew Him as Mary and Joseph's boy or as some stranger talking about things that were different from their religious beliefs. Today there are a lot of people who just do not want to accept the existence of God, they do not know how to believe in something they cannot see or touch.
Jesus spoke of freedom from the burdens of life. He said bring your worries and anxieties to Him and together you can overcome. These are amazing promises that can happen if you are willing to see Jesus as God's Son. If you are tired of struggling and always worn out to the point of exhaustion, then pick-up the bible, get to know God and His Son. Step into a church and see for yourself what so many others are believing. Jesus can change your life just as the disciples's lives were changed. And just like the disciples, you will not be able to contain your new found life.
There is an amazing joy and an unbelievable peace to be had. All you have to do is ask God to show you Jesus and you will become part of His family. As your Father, God will watch over you, He will guide you and keep you safe.
Yes, eternal life is part of life with God, but living with God now, is living a life beyond anything you could ever imagine.
Thank-you Father for Your Son and new life with You. 😊

Matthew chapter 13 verse 55-57.
"How is this possible?" the people exclaimed. He's just a carpenters son, and we know Mary His mother and His brothers---James, Joseph, Simon and Judas. And His sisters---they all live here. How can He be so great?" And they became angry with Him!

Matthew chapter 6 verse 19-21.
Jesus told them; "Don't store up treasures here on earth where they can erode away or may be stolen. Store them in heaven where they will never lose their value, and are safe from thieves. If your profits are in heaven your hearts will be there too."

Matthew chapter 11 verse 28-30.
Jesus replied; "Come to Me and I will give you rest---all of you who work so hard beneath a heavy yoke. Wear My yoke---for it fits perfectly---and let Me teach you; for I am gentle and humble, and you shall find rest for your souls; for I give you only light burdens."
