Following the crowd.
Psalm chapter 121.
"Shall I look to the mountain god's for help? No! My help is from Jehovah who made the mountains! And the heavens too! He will never let me stumble, slip or fall. For He is always watching, never sleeping. Jehovah Himself is caring for you! He is your defender. He protects you day and night. He keeps you from evil and preserves your life. He keeps His eye upon you as you come and go and always guards you."
Do you remember the old saying "If everyone else is jumping off the cliff, would you jump too?" The word cliff makes it sound high, so I probably would not do it for fear of getting hurt. Each day we need to make judgement calls as to whether to follow what others are doing or to take charge and do what we think is best. We do make wrong choices and sometimes we make the right ones. The choices we make affect how we react and our reactions affect others too. We can not hide ourselves away for fear of making a wrong choice. So each day people go blindly into the world hoping that they are using common sense in making decisions. We know that bad words spoken and physical harm does no one any good but yet they happen. Masking our issues with drugs and alcohol is a way to mellow our thoughts and helps us rest but can lead to many other problems such as doing things we shouldn't, blurting something out that does not help anyone or even physical health problems. Peace of mind is hard to find and people will do a lot of different things to find it. I did not have to go far to find it, I found it through reading the bible and getting to know God and His love for us through His son, Jesus.
I first heard about God from my parents and learned of Jesus in Sunday school. I imagine my parents learned of God in the same way. People have been speaking about God and how He has affected their lives for over 2000 years. They talk about the miracles He has done in their lives and the personal relationship they have with Him. Others stay skeptical because they can not see Him but they do acknowledge the changes that have happened to people. To those God has touched, they have joy in their voices and walk with confidence because of the effects He has had on their lives. There has been physical healing, softened hearts and love restored. He has given strength and reassurance to be with those who battle with emotions, anxieties and fears. People walk with confidence doing things they never thought possible. Finance's have always haunted people as they worry about having enough. God answers their prayers by providing the direction they need, as they trust in Him. He turns their worries into praise and joy in their hearts for His touch on their lives.
Do you see yet? God does not want us to be clouded by aliments and worries but wants us to see clearly His touch on our lives through His Son, Jesus. God wants everyone to live a life of peace where joy fills our hearts and thoughts from His blessings. He wants us to know that we are not alone to face this world and to trust in Him for strength and protection.
I guess you could ignore Him and all the testimonies of people over the past 2000 years confessing their love and loyalty to God. Or you can go and find a quiet place to sit and take in the sights of this beautiful world. A place where you can let the busyness of life leave you for a bit and then through the silence and the peace maybe you will hear God speaking. It is when you read His word (the bible) and get to know Jesus that God will touch your life. He will bring comfort and refreshing peace to you as your love for Him grows. You will then understand what all the others have talked about for so long.
Thank-you Father for showing yourself in the love people have for you. 😊
