A Good Laugh

You believe what you see and are amazed by it. Look at God’s gift of Christ and He will amaze you forever.

Luke chapter 24 verse 11.
But the story sounded like a fairy tale to the men----they did not believe it.
Verse 16.
But they did not recognize Him, for God kept it from them.
Verse 31.
When suddenly---- it was though their eyes were opened----they recognized Him!
Verse 32.
They began telling each other how their hearts had felt strangely warm as He talked with them and explained the Scriptures.
Verse 41.
Still they stood their undecided, filled with joy and doubt.
Verse 45.
Then He opened their minds to understand at last these many Scriptures!
Verse 49.
And now I will send the Holy Spirit upon you, just as the Father promised.

I love a good laugh and it is even better when shared with others.
It can break even the toughest of people and cause belly aches. It is the way our thoughts work. We can see something or hear something that we find funny and what may seem funny to us may not be as funny to someone else.
Most of what makes us laugh come from words that were miscued or from something we saw. For example a Pastor giving his message and talking about a song but he slipped and said the word “thong” instead. Slowly the chuckles started and then everyone started to laugh. Or a person went into a sub shop and was looking at the menu when the attendant asked what the person would like. They replied by saying, “Serve the other person first.” The attendant started to chuckle for there was no other person, only themselves reflecting in a mirror. They both had a good laugh.
Laughter is good for the soul, no matter what we have going on it can give us a feel good moment and maybe soften where our thoughts were. You can just imagine the joy the of the people who saw Jesus after His death on the cross.
In Luke chapter 24 we read about the two men who were walking along the road to Emmaus. Jesus hid from them His appearance so that they could have a conversation without being distracted by who He is. Here we have some guy who they had never met before talking to them about the Scriptures and how they told the story of the events that had just happened. They did not recognize Him until He sat down with them to share a meal and at the blessing of the food they suddenly saw Him for who He is and in that moment He was gone. Leaving them in awe of what had just happened.
The conversation afterwards was about how they felt strangely warm when He talked with them explaining the Scriptures. Then, their excitement to see it was Jesus and to question what they saw as He disappeared. They could not wait to return Jerusalem to tell everyone, about what had happened. Then in the midst of them telling their astonishing story, Jesus Himself was standing there.
They and others touched Him to confirm He was real. He asked for something to eat and they still were not sure of what they were seeing, everyone there watched as He ate the food.
Then once again He spoke to them about how the Scriptures had told them of the events that just happened, helping them to understand. He said to them, “Do not begin telling others yet—stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.”
And everyone who was there watched Him rise into the sky. Wow! Their astonishment must have had some good laughter as they were filled with joy. Everything Jesus had taught, about God's promises have come true.
When God has the opportunity to be the first and only thoughts you have, then you will experience amazing love that brings an ultimate joy and a good belly ache laugh that only you and God can understand.
Take the time to know the gift of Jesus and the love God has for you. You will see for yourself what all the excitement is about.
Thank-You Father for Jesus. Thank You for opening our eyes to recognize and understand what is happening.

1 Corinthians chapter 13 verse 12.
“In the same way, we can see and understand only a little about God now, as if we were peering at His reflection in a poor mirror, but someday we are going to see Him in His completeness, face to face. Now all that I know is hazy and blurred, but then I will see everything clearly, just as clearly as God sees into my heart right now.”

Mark chapter 10 verse 51.
“What do you want Me to do for you?" Jesus asked. " "O Teacher", the blind man said, "I want to see!"

John chapter 15 verse 26 and 27.
Jesus said to them, “But I will send the Comforter—the Holy Spirit, the source of all truth. He will come to you from the Father and will tell you all about Me. And you must also tell everyone about Me, because you have been with Me from the beginning.”
