Our battles

1 Timothy chapter 2 verse 2-6.
"Pray this way for kings and all others who are in authority over us or are in places of high responsibility so that we can live in peace and quietness, spending our time in Godly living and thinking much about the Lord. This is good and pleases God our savior, for He longs for all to be saved and to understand this truth: That God is on one side and all the people are on the other side and Christ Jesus, Himself man, is between them to bring them together by giving His life for all mankind. This is the message which at the proper time God gave to the world."

How are battles won? Do we celebrate victory because we have beat our opponent or do we quietly accept victory as we keep our guard up preparing for the next battle? Battle is such a harsh word and makes us think of armies and hurtful loss. Everyday we fight battles with ourselves and with others. It starts in the morning with how we feel about how we look. Did I like what I saw in the mirror or oh the dilemma over what clothes to wear. It would also be fortunate if we could get through the morning without having judgmental words spoken. That is just the start of our day! As we go throughout it someone may speak harsh words towards you and you may give it to them right back or talk harshly to others. There is a never ending list of battles that get fought throughout our days for example, driving and other people, the wrong order filled at the drive thru, a long lineup at the cashier because of a missed bar code or someone with too many items in the quick checkout. This list does not include the endless mistakes we make as we do our job. Do you toss and turn while trying to rest? Is your mind constantly racing from thought to thought until you are finally exhausted? Welcome to everyone's life!!
As I read the bible I learn of the struggles that others have and realize they are no different than the ones I have. No matter where they turned they too could not find peace. They knew of God and His offer of salvation, yet they continued to live on their own without His help. Jesus teaches of giving our lives over to God and letting Him walk with us into every battle. Then Jesus made it possible for us to come directly to God seeking His help. To tell Him our problems and expecting Him to keep His promise of help. When Jesus spoke the words "It is finished" He was referring to the battle is over. Everyday we face battles and God promises to be with us in each and everyone of them. He gives us the proper words to speak and the right thoughts to think as our focus is on bringing honor and glory to our Father.
Start your day by reading a daily devotional and a word from the bible. Thank God in prayer for your health and the day ahead and then as you head out you will notice Him in all you do. You will be rested and at peace ready to face any challenge with the confidence of knowing you are not alone. Give God all your praise and thankfulness for His love in your life.

1 Peter chapter 3 verse 16-18.
"Do what is right, then if men speak against you, calling you evil names, they will become ashamed of themselves for falsely accusing you when you have only done what is good. Remember, if God wants you to suffer, it is better to suffer for doing good than for doing wrong!"

John chapter 19 verse 30.
When Jesus had tasted it, He said "It is finished" and bowed His head and dismissed His spirit.

Our battles are won with God because of the love of Jesus at the cross. Thank-you Father.
