One simple thought.
What you thinking about? Is it God or Jesus?
Exodus chapter 35 verses 34 and 35.
And God has made him and Oholiab gifted teachers of their skills to others. God has filled them both with unusual skills as jewelers, carpenters, embroidery designers in blue, purple and scarlet on linen backgrounds, and as weavers---they excel in the crafts we will be needing in the work.
One day, you don't care about who God is and the next you are so thankful to Him for hearing your prayers. Who would have thought?
Your life has not been so bad or maybe it has had more than it's fair share of troubles. You are a good person, you pay your bills and take care of your family, you maintain your responsibilities, you are socially active and pretty well, mind your own business. Or maybe you have strayed because being part of the group has pulled you into a life you are not happy with. Maybe relationships or job stress has led you to ignore your responsibilities and fall behind. Maybe your decisions have not always been the right ones and you are frustrated, sad, grieved or just misunderstood.
It does not really matter what your life is about. It is your life and you get along with it as best you can. Until one day you hear someone talking about God, Jesus or the bible and that intrigues you. Where did this sudden interest come from? You have never thought about God before, so why now? Even though you have doubts, you decide to learn more. You remember there once was a bible hanging around, you search for it and dust it off. Maybe you don't have one and put thought into where to get one.
Your not sure where to start. From the beginning? Or maybe bit's and pieces at first, to get a feel for what the bible is about. What are you getting yourself into? For some reason you want to know more. No one is forcing you, you just want to find out if ....... Oh you don't know what it is you are looking for but you do know that something is missing in your life and you have been led here, to the bible.
You know it's about God, you know there is someone named Jesus. You have never thought about God before and you don't want to be one of those people who go to a church and give away their hard earned money, let alone talk with others about God.
The bible starts off making statements about creation. Wow! Who would have thought. Then the drama starts. God gives life and humans become stubborn, trying to make sense of their short lived time here on earth, dealing with poverty, success and frustration. The words hit home. You have been that way, but now you are coming to know God and His love for people. You realize that there is so much more to life with God, you realize that He has brought you here and the joy of Jesus is filling your heart.
Who are you but a broken person, who has been led to the bible, and Jesus. Life for you has changed and those around you know it. You have this amazing good feeling, and it is extending out from you to others around you. You have been touched by God and it is exactly what you needed.
You may have some baggage that you want to unload, but you see clearly the path ahead and without a doubt you are going that way. You are so thankful to God for His amazing touch upon your life. You find yourself praying all the time, giving Him the thanks for everything. Even though you have apprehensions about going to church, your aim is to worship and praise God with others and to hear the word of God spoken.
You expect people to approach you, and no doubt they do. You are a new face and they want you to feel welcome. All those doubtful thoughts you had about church are not what you find. You find others who are no different than you. You may not know them personally but you see them worshiping, praising and intrigued by the spoken word.
You feel good inside. God has made that happen for you and you smile. What a difference a thought can make.
Thank You Father for Jesus. Thank You for sending Jesus to those you know will be a brother to Your Son. 😊
Romans chapter 8 verses 28 and 29.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For from the beginning God knew who would come to Him and become like His Son, so that His Son was the first with many brothers.
Acts chapter 8 verse 30 and 31.
Philip ran over and heard what he was reading and asked, "Do you understand it?" "Of course not!" the man replied. "How can I when there is no one to instruct me ?"
Psalms chapter 51 verse 17.
It is a broken spirit you want---remorse and penitence. A broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not ignore.
1 Corinthians chapter 1 verses 30 and 31.
For it is from God alone that you have your life through Christ Jesus. He showed us God's plan of salvation; He was the one who made us acceptable to God; He made us pure and holy and gave Himself to purchase our salvation. As it says in the Scriptures, "If anyone is going to boast, let him boast only of what the Lord has done."
Galatians chapter 6 verse 14.
As for me, God forbid that I should boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross my interest in all the attractive things of the world was killed long ago, and the world's interest in me is also long dead.
