What do you talk about?
Not everyone will be interested. Be humble and interested in what others need, so that Christ will help them.
Psalms chapter 68 verse 11.
The Lord gave the word; great was the company of those that published it.
If you are excited about God then you will want to talk about who He is and what He has done through Jesus. Through out the bible, the prophets are mentioned.
2 Peter chapter 1 verses 19-21 say, "We have seen and proved that what the prophets said came true. You will do well to pay close attention to everything they have written, for, like lights shinning into dark corners, their words help us to understand many things that otherwise would be dark and difficult. But when you consider the wonderful truth of the prophets words, then the light will dawn in your souls and Christ the Morning Star will shine in your hearts. For no prophecy recorded in Scripture was ever thought up by the prophet himself. It was the Holy Spirit within these godly men who gave them true messages from God."
The Holy Spirit can also fill your heart with Jesus and give you the right words to speak at the right time. And you will be left in awe, thankful to God.
Matthew chapter 10 verses 19 and 20 say, "When you are arrested, don't worry about what to say at your trial, for you will be given the right words at the right time. For it won't be you doing the talking---it will be the Spirit of your heavenly Father speaking through you!"
You don't know what kind of day you are going to have. You don't know who you are going to meet or the words that will be spoken. You wing it, hoping that all will be smooth and peaceful. Now, we have learned to be respectful of others but that can be a false face we are putting on. We are just being kind so that others are comfortable. And we hope that others are respectful back. It would be nice if the way we acted was who we truly are at all times.
We don't know what others are going through and they cannot know what we are dealing with. So being kind can be a way of being nice in times of trouble. It is hard to hide depression, sadness and anxiety. For short moments we can stifle our emotions but in the long run they show their true colors.
God does not work like that. With God you are expected to represent yourself as His and reflect the way He wants you to live. It goes against the free wheeling life you have lived up to now but the time has come when you are fed up with sadness, failures and mistakes. Your friends are only as good as they want you to be and you have expectations that you always don't get.
God lays it on the line. It is this way and there is no changing it to suit your needs. When we are happy there is no other place we would like to be. It is hard to let go of and we hate leaving it behind. Being content and at peace with who we are and the life we have helps but without God we would not know Jesus and the peace God brings in times of turmoil.
The way you act and the words you speak may not always be accepted by others. But if you are seeking after a life with Jesus and trusting in God then the way you act and the words you speak represent the joy you have for God. That is how God does it! He wins over your trust to the point where your joy is the peace you have with Him.
In Mark chapter 2 Jesus arrives in Capernaum, where He preached the Word. He healed the man on the stretcher and said to him, "Son, your sins are forgiven!" The Jewish leaders thought this was blasphemy and proclaimed "Does He think He is God? For only God can forgive sins." Jesus replied, "Why does this bother you? I, the Messiah, have the authority on earth to forgive sins. But talk is cheap---anybody can do that. So I'll prove it to you by healing this man." Jesus told the man to pick up his stretcher and go home, you are healed! The people were stunned and began praising God as the man pushed through the crowds with his stretcher. "We've never seen anything like this before!" they exclaimed.
Your faith in Jesus will expand to the point where, how you thought before will be pushed out, leaving you in awe of God's love for you. You may talk about it to others, especially if they ask about the change in you. Whether you talk about Him or not the changes to you will stand out because you are filled with the joy of Jesus, talking to God about everything.
Todays readings talked about the narrow path to heaven. The gate to heaven is open for anyone to come to, but it is only those who look for it that find it. And once you have found your place with Jesus, then all the past ways get exchanged for His ways. What you once found attractive may not be attractive any more. And it is in those changes that you see God's hand upon you, leaving you filled with thanksgiving, praise and worship.
Death and sickness do not stop coming. Being responsible helps keep you out of trouble. In those times you are not abandoned by God, instead you now look to God for the healing power of Jesus.
In Matthew chapter 16 verses 24 and 25, Jesus said, "If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. For anyone who keeps his life for himself shall lose it; and anyone who loses his life for Me shall find it again."
You may be free to do whatever you like, but with Jesus you are free with the power of God exploding in all that you do. What do you talk about? You talk about the joy you have, giving praise to the wisdom that God gives you.
Thank You Father for Jesus. Thank You for the joy You bring and the words of praise we give. 😊
2 Chronicles chapter 24 verse 19.
God sent prophets to bring them back to the Lord, but the people would not listen.
John chapter 1 verses 1-5.
Before anything else existed, there was Christ, with God. He has always been alive and is Himself God. He created everything there is---nothing exists that He did not make. Eternal life is in Him, and this life gives light to all mankind. His life is the light that shines through the darkness---and the darkness can never extinguish it.
Deuteronomy chapter 18 verses 15-19.
Instead He will raise up for you a Prophet like me, an Israeli, a man to whom you must listen and who you must obey. For this is what you yourselves begged for at Mount Horeb. There at the foot of the mountain you begged that you might not have to listen to the terrifying voice of God again, or see the awesome fire on the mountain, lest you die. "All right," the Lord said to me, "I will do as they have requested. I will raise up from among them a Prophet, an Israeli like you. I will tell Him what to say, and He shall be My spokesman to the people. I will personally deal with anyone who will not listen to Him and heed His messages from Me."
Ephesians chapter 2 verse 20.
What a foundation you stand on now: the apostles and the prophets; and the cornerstone of the building is Jesus Christ Himself!
Revelation chapter 1 verses 1 and 2.
This book unveils some of the future activities soon to occur in the life of Jesus Christ. God permitted Him to reveal these things to His servant John in a vision; and then an angel was sent from heaven to explain the vision's meaning. John wrote it all down---the words of God and Jesus Christ and everything he heard and saw.
