Your best Friend
There is nothing like being with someone who you feel totally comfortable around.
Ecclesiastes chapter 4 verse 8.
This is the case of a man who is quite alone, without a son or brother, yet he works hard to keep gaining more riches, and whom will he leave it all? And why is he giving up so much now? It is all so pointless and depressing.
Who is your best friend? Is it Jesus? Maybe it's your spouse or a sibling. Maybe it is both. Ecclesiastes goes on to say, "That two can accomplish more than one and that three are even better for a triple braided cord is not easily broken."
It's up to you to make the time for friends. You have to set aside time to spend with them and be interested in how they are living their lives. We are meant to be social people but we are not meant to be overwhelmed by others and their troubles.
Do not distance yourself from others by unloading your griefs onto them. You can talk freely with them but do not expect them to take the load from you. They already have their own issues and don't needs yours too. A good friend always treats others with courtesy and compassion. You care about what happens to them. So you are willing to overlook some of their quirks and to give of your time to make the friendship happen.
Throughout your life you learn that friends come and go. They get married, move away or pass on. You are a very fortunate person if you have a friend for many years, someone whom you know closely and share your up's and downs with. Having a good friend is important but do not borrow money or move in with them for lengthy periods.
We all have our own ways and to have a friend means being understanding from a distance. You enjoy their company but you do not put any expectations upon them. Even if you go camping or take a vacation with them be prepared for judgements and pride can creep in when least expected.
A spouse is someone you have chosen to make a commitment to. You have come to the point where they are more than friends, they are someone you miss when they are not with you and enjoy being around. There will be disagreements, there will be trials, temptations and desires. It is your love for each other that stands strong and allows room for discussion, and forgiveness to prevail.
Fur babies make the best friends. They can love us unconditionally. No matter what discipline is given or what bad environments are around them, they just want to love and be loved. They make the best listeners and know when we need to be cuddled. The more we love and care for them the more they love and care for us. It would be nice if they would live as long as we do but God did not make them that way.
Throughout our lives we are constantly learning. In Philippians chapter 4 verse 12, Paul says, "I don't mean to say I am perfect, I haven't learned all I should even yet, but I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ saved me for and wants me to be." We are human and we make mistakes, but God's love is never ending to those who are constantly looking to Him for guidance and help.
Family have been there with you from the beginning and probably know you the best. They can be your best friend or there could be distance because of disagreements. Sometimes family pry too much, but the one thing that will never change is that they are your family.
God has always wanted to be your friend. Jesus shows us what it means to love and care about people. There are so many complications. Everyone has their own concerns. Are you willing to accept Jesus as your friend and let His love flow through you? You are not adding baggage to your already piled high stuff. He lightens your load and bring a eternal joy into your life.
Don't be sad any longer. In John chapter 15 Jesus calls us His friends. He says, "I have loved you even as the Father has loved Me. Live within My love. When you obey Me you are living in My love, just as I obey My Father and live in His love. I have told you this so that you will be filled with My joy. Yes, your cup of joy will overflow!"
Jesus lives in us through the Holy Spirit. That is God with us always. He is the one looking over us and watching the steps we take. He is your best friend because there is no where else that you want to be than in His presence. With Him in decisions, comments and confrontations. He makes your life content and at peace.
Your cup of joy overflows out to others as they see how wonderfully happy you are with each day. Everything is from God and you get to live with God because of Jesus. Your joy is the one who came and brought you into life with God. He is more than a friend, He is and always will be with you.
Thank You Father for Jesus. Thank You for coming into our lives, making it possible for us to love others as You love us. 😊
Luke chapter 22 verses 25-27.
Jesus told them, "In this world the kings and great men order their slaves around, and the slaves have no choice but to like it! But among you, the one who serves you best will be your leader. Out in the world the master sits at the table and is served by his servants. But not here! For I am your servant.
1 Thessalonians chapter 5 verses 14-18.
"Dear brothers, warn those who are lazy; comfort those who are frightened; take tender care of those who are weak; and be patient with everyone. See that no one pays back evil for evil. but always try to do good to each other and to everyone else. Always be joyful. Always keep on praying. No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."
Philippians chapter 2 verses 5-11.
Your attitude should be the kind that was shown us by Jesus Christ, who, though He was God, did not demand and cling to His rights as God, but laid aside His mighty power and glory, taking the disguise of a slave and becoming like men. And He humbled Himself even further, going so far as actually to die a criminals death on a cross. Yet it was because of this that God raised Him up to the heights of heaven and gave Him a name which is above every other name, that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father
