Overcoming

1 Kings chapter 19 verses 11 and 12.
"Go out and stand before me on the mountain," the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there the Lord passed by and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain, it was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake, there was a fire but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper."

Our lives are made of of all sorts of reasons as to why we do not want to believe in God and so we struggle with the many battles that take a grip of us and control our lives.  The words above represent each of us who struggle with addictions and emotions that seem to control us. The windstorm, the earthquake and the fire are all the things that we tell ourselves that are controlling us. You know, the things that we deal with each day and seem to have such a hold on us, that we feel it is impossible to overcome and be set free. In the story above we learned that after all the loudness calmed down there was God speaking, letting Elijah know that he has always been there and is that he is not alone to face His battles.
What are the reasons you have for not hearing God's voice? God wants everyone to hear Him and to let them know He is there for them. He is waiting patiently for you to see through the mess that you have created. It is when you have stopped yelling out about all your issues and how you want to be set free from the things that have a hold of you.... it is then that you will hear His whisper. He knows your issues and is waiting for you to talk to Him. He wants to know that you have come to Him and are ready to spend time with Him. He wants you to hear His voice as He tells you how much He cares and love's you. He wants you to feel His joy as you begin to trust in Him. He wants to enter into your life. He wants you to live with Him. He wants you to seek Him through His word and through His Son, Jesus. He wants you to know that you are not alone. He wants you to face your battles with Him. He wants you to know that there is hope and strength and power available to you. He wants you to focus on Him and to overcome the addictions. He wants you to trust in Him to take care of your anxieties and worries. He wants you to see clearly that what Jesus did at the cross has opened the door for you to come to Him. God wants you to know Him as your Father and to see the beauty that life holds for you with Him. God wants you to know that He is watching you and encouraging you to take the steps of life with Him. He see's the joy in your heart as you heal. He see's your smile as you stand confidently no longer struggling with your old life. He loves your peace and joy and thankfulness as you praise Him for being there and for loving you as He does. It is those changes to you that others will see and also be thankful for.
What has happened you may ask? Well! You stopped long enough to hear His voice say "I am here for you. let me walk with you and enjoy your company, your friendship and your love."
Thank-you Father for caring, for being there for me and loving me as your child. 😊
