A day like no other!
This is the day the Lord has made. Rejoice and be glad in it.
Isaiah chapter 40 verses 29-31.
God gives power to the tired and worn out, and strength to the weak. Even the youths shall be exhausted, and the young men will all give up. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
What does it mean to wait upon the Lord?
We like to keep busy. Some of us are busier than others. Some of us feel that our work load is overwhelming, leaving us weary, exhausted and worn out.
No matter how much we have to do, the work load never ends. Others count on us and the stuff we own needs to be cared for. Where does it end? You try to take time off, catching up on much needed rest. But that only is putting off until later what should be done now.
Some people seem to have this hidden energy that helps them face each challenge enthusiastically. They are willing to get along and get the tasks done. They don't want to miss out for if they do they have missed something that they would have learned from. Enjoying life can be exhausting and we all need to get our proper rest otherwise there will come a time of great burnout.
So how do you find the right mixture to make each day enjoyable, fulfilling and memorable? The answers lie in Jesus and doing things happily for others. Don't just bide your time away. The time we have here is a blessing. You will know what I mean when you spend time with Jesus. Seek Him in the morning before you start your day. Be thankful to Him for the rest you received and the day ahead. Maybe during your rest period you found the answer to those troubling thoughts. That is the gift of God providing you with your place of refuge.
Proverbs chapter 8 verses 33-36 say, "Listen for My counsel---oh, do not refuse it---and be wise. Happy is the man who is so anxious to be with Me that he watches for Me daily at My gates, or waits for Me outside My home! For whoever finds Me find life and wins approval from the Lord."
Our Lord Jesus is wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Without Him you are caught in a rut, waiting for a miracle, hoping that your troubles are not too harsh. God never changes, He is the same today as He will be tomorrow. His promises are never ending.
There is a song of joy called "Great is Thy faithfulness" The words are from a grateful heart, The chorus says, "Morning by Morning new mercies I see, All I have needed thy hand hath provided, Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me."
Isaiah chapter 55 verse 11 says, "So also is My Word. I send it out and it always produces fruit. It shall accomplish all I want it to, and prosper everywhere I send it. You will live in joy and peace."
On your own, you seek attention for the things you do. With Jesus there is no need to seek attention. For He is with you in all you do, reflecting the joyful heart that you have.
James chapter 1 verses 12-16 say, "Happy is the man who does not give in and do wrong when he is tempted, for afterwards he will get as his reward the crown of life that God has promised those who love Him. And remember, when someone wants to do wrong it is never God who is tempting him, for God never wants to do wrong and never tempts anyone else to do it. Temptation is the pull of man's own evil thoughts and wishes. These evil thoughts lead to evil actions and afterwards to the death penalty from God. So do not be misled."
I never would have thought that you could be thankful for the day let alone the moments in-between. But God lives for praise and the best praise He can get comes from us. So understand that it is He who provides and that He does not stop providing. Our worries for today and our concerns about tomorrow only bring anxiety and fears. Stress we do not need.
In Matthew chapter 6, Jesus tells us not to worry. He says we are to trust in God to take care of us. God will take care of our worries and our concerns.
In John chapter 14 verse 27, Jesus tells us, "I am leaving you with a gift---peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give is not fragile like the peace the world gives. So do not be troubled or afraid."
Wow! There is no better way to go through your day then with Jesus beside you. The world could be falling apart and all seems so helpless, but you have Jesus beside you. A loving arm around you, to share in your happiness, laughter, good times and in those tough times when His strength is needed.
Thank You Father for Jesus. Thank You for being there when the time to leave old ways behind has come. Your mercies and grace are forever! 😊
James chapter 4 verses 1-3.
What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Is it not because there is a whole army of evil desires within you? You want what you do not have, so you kill to get it. You long for what others have, and can't afford it, so you start a fight to take it away from them. And yet the reason you do not have what you want is that you do not ask God for it. And even when you do ask you do not get it because your whole aim is wrong---you want only what will give you pleasure.
Psalms chapter 46 verses 1-4.
God is our refuge and strength, a tested help in times of trouble. And so we need not fear even if the world blows up, and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam; let the mountains tremble! There is a river of joy flowing through the City of our God.
2 Corinthians chapter 4 verses 16-18.
That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our inner strength in the Lord is growing every day. These troubles and sufferings of ours are, after all, quite small and will not last very long. Yet this short time of distress will result in God's riches blessing upon us forever and ever! So we do not look at what we can see right now, the troubles all around us, but we look forward to the joys in heaven which we have not yet seen. The troubles will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.
